This scene showcases so well the relationship between Fourth and Fourteenth: brothers, rivals. You can see Fourteenth savours and delights in driving Fourth to fury. This isn’t just a mission to rescue Ruo Xi, this is also Fourteenth’s chance to triumph over Fourth.
Is it childish? Probably. Cruel? Yes.
But considering the competition and rivalry between them for everything from their mother’s love to the throne, you can’t blame Fourteenth for being pleased. If the situation were reversed, I’m sure Fourth would have the same satisfaction, though he would probably have more subtlety than be so obviously gleeful.
