Letting Go Love was possessive and selfishness. Love was also about treasuring what you have. Love was falling and failing and stumbling but also about building and rebuilding, nurturing and fixing. Sometimes, love was also about letting go. (AU)

Perchance to Dream To die, to sleep; to sleep, perchance to dream. Eighth and his last moments before dying.

Season of Waiting Waiting from summer to fall, waiting till the next season. I have to wait until the next full moon for you to return to my side…I will wait until we’re old. - Fourteenth thinks about Ruo Xi.

Mingyu visits Rouxin, begging Rouxi, ‘I, today came here to beg you. Ruo Xi, my sister already died. I can no longer stand watching 10th prince live a life worse than death. Instead of letting the emperor humiliate us and torture us so, why not just finish it off?’ Rouxi realized that 10th Prince is 4th Prince next target. Mingyu continues to beg Rouxi to asks for 4th Prince’s mercy on 10th Prince, ‘If he’s being executed, I will follow him to be executed as well. But, to be brought back as captive and to be confined for life, this kind of suffering, do you think 10th will be able to stand it?’ & this is the moment when Rouxi will take a stand & end all the torment of her beloved childhood friends.

In the room, 13th Prince speaks up for 10th Prince, asking for 4th Prince to lessen 10th Prince punishment. He reasons that 10th Prince has always follows 4th Prince’s orders & had never fought for the throne, why is 4th Prince punishing 10th Prince. He asks if 4th Prince just wants to destroy them for the hell of it (AMEN to you brotha), ‘Are you really being impartial, or are you just set on destroying him?’ 4th Prince yells back, ‘Enough! I’m punishing him because he deserves it! That bunch of people is scheming and pervasive. You’ve seen it for yourself. I cannot allow for a speck of compassion when dealing with them.’ 13th Prince replies, ‘No, Ruo Xi will not stand aside and do anything. She’s the ‘death-seeking 13th sister’. She will not do nothing. To protect those around her, she’s willing to even sacrifice herself. Do you also want to see Ruo Xi in such a desperate state before you stop?’ 4th Prince answers angrily, ‘They are the ones who refuse to stop!…It’s them. It’s all their fault.’

AMEN to 13th Prince’s words.

Yeah I have to say, in this situation, and later, with Yu Tan, 4th is not being very smart. I’m not sure whether that was Tong Hoa’s intention or not but he’s being rather obtuse here, or just blinded by anger.

When he hurts 8th, he doesn’t know exactly the nature of 8th’s and Ruo Xi’s relationship, so I’ll cut him some slack. But with 10th and Yu Tan, it’s just plain stupid.

I’m not going into whether 10th or (especially) Yu Tan deserve 4th’s wrath, but 4th’s reasoning is just faulty. He thinks that getting rid of them will mean that Ruo Xi won’t have to worry about her conflicting emotions between them and him anymore. Further more, just because HE THINKS they deserve punishment, he EXPECTS Ruo Xi to somehow just take it all in stride and understand. But he does this, without any warning or explanation to her. All the horrible news gets dumped on Ruo Xi in the most unceremonious ways and she has to hear from someone else that the man she loves has done all this to hurt her friends.

As Emperor, of course he doesn’t have to justify himself to anyone, but here, he is claiming that he’s doing this for Ruo Xi’s sake, but then goes on quietly heaping horrible ends on the people she holds most dear without the decency to tell her himself and explain to her the reasoning behind it. And then he expects her to be grateful for his efforts in protecting her and doesn’t understand why, again especially with the case of Yu Tan, she gets angry with him.

On Yu Tan, personally I think as Emperor, if Yu Tan wasn’t connected to Ruo Xi in anyway, with the crimes she’d committed in those days, that manner of death is justified (or at least cannot be said that it’s too harsh because relatively, in those days, punishments are just that harsh). But because Yu Tan is connected to Ruo Xi, for 4th to do that and then just expects Ruo Xi to be ok with it, is just insensitive and stupid.

My headcannon scenario is that, despite his WTF face, to 14th, this isn’t an act at all :D.

Because of Ruo Xi, why should I be afraid?

For Ruo Xi, everything is worth it.

He said he first fell in love with you when he heard you sing.
