Honestly I would have thought it out of character if Lydia didn’t bring up Bing insensitively while Jane was present. I was kind of waiting for it, or at least waiting for some hint of Mrs Bennet being insensitive. But Lydia works just as well.
Re the question of Gigi’s age when Wickham happened (via glamaphonic)
I really think that Gigi is about the same age as Lydia, and she probably would be just legal or 19-ish at the time. I would say she’s at university now. Though of course there’s no real conclusive evidence either way. But the idea that she was under-aged when whatever with Wickham happened and Darcy chose to let it go just sort of sit in all the wrong places for me. I know it’s not entirely impossible though.
Also I think George Wickham is very opportunistic but cautious enough not to let what he do blacken his reputation, so I would like to think that even he would not risk getting involved in what would certainly be illegal situations with under-aged girls. Then again, he’s probably capable…
